Switchboard Operator – New York, NY ($20.00/hr)

As part of a team providing 24/7 coverage to hospital switchboard the Switchboard Operators links external and internal callers to appropriate resources.

We are currently looking for full time and part time employees to work 4PM – 12AM shift and 12AM – 8AM shift. Must be able to work one weekend shift

Job Description/Requirements:

• Manage a single – position telephone switchboard/console, used with a private branch exchange (PBX) system
• Respond to all of the incoming calls and internal communications through use of a console-driven range of codes
• Serve as a resource to caller, determine nature of call and direct to appropriate department
• Ability to learn a specific protocol for handling emergencies and other notifications and demonstrate ability to perform these tasks is required
• Recording and transmit messages; keep records of calls placed; provide information to callers
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple callers simultaneously
